Getting Around the Island

Anna Maria Island benefits from a free shuttle service, known locally as The Trolley, which does a continual loop of the island. Daily service runs from 6am to 10:30pm every 20 minutes from the Anna Maria City Pier in the north to Coquina Beach in the south. Trolley Stops are indicated by a green sign with a picture of a trolley on it. Manatee County Area Transit (MCAT) fixed routes connect with the free trolley at Holmes Beach and Coquina Beach.

Check out www.ridemcat.org for more information.

Holiday Schedule : Fixed Route and Longboat Key services are not available on New Year’s Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day.

Anna Maria Island is small enough to explore by foot or by bike, and both offer visitors some of the best ways to truly enjoy all it has to offer. There are several rental companies across the island for renting bicycles, kayaks, paddleboards and more. Many will also deliver to your vacation home. Then you are free to explore! There are many side roads where there is less traffic than following the main road. The beauty of getting there on a bike is that you can ‘park’ much closer to some of the out-of-the-way spots, like Bean Point.

Our preferred Golf Cart Vendor is Crabby Joe’s. Their 6-passenger street legal golf carts are a fun way to explore Anna Maria Island. Cruise to popular spots like Bean Point, Pine Avenue’s charming boutiques, and Bayfront Park. Visit Coquina Beach, Manatee Beach, Bridge Street in Bradenton Beach, and the Anna Maria Island Historical Museum with ease. Take drive to Leffis Key Preserve to explore nature trails and observation platforms in this restored habitat. It’s a haven for bird watchers and nature lovers.
